When & Where: Saturday, November 4, 2017 at The Falls at Trolley Square; 580 South 600 East, Salt Lake City, UT 84102; South Building. Doors Open at 6pm.

Why Attend? Attending First Church’s annual auction fundraiser offers so many wonderful experiences for everyone. First, it is a fabulous evening, complete with entertainment, incredible items in the silent and live auctions, and splendid food and drink. Secondly, it provides each of you the opportunity to donate to the church in many ways; attending a donated dinner from our silent auction, signing up for an event, or bidding on one of our fabulous vacations or art offerings in the live auction. We also have our famous raffle baskets that are packaged so professionally, you would not believe a member of our church has created them. However, most of all, this auction is about giving; giving of yourself, giving of your time, and giving financially. This auction is not possible without the attendees, and that means each of you. If you have attended every year, if you have attended sporadically, or if you have never attended, this year is the year to attend. This is our largest fundraising event, by far, of the year. Please join us as we support our church for another year.

Auction Theme: The theme of our auction this year is Women: The Ultimate Superheroes, honoring Kate Kelly, esquire. Everyone attending the auction will have an assigned seat at a table. You can feel free to mingle about without fear of losing your precious seat. Doors open at 6pm. Meet and greet your old and new friends while having a drink, signing up for our silent auction offerings, and sampling some appetizers. Our Senior Minister, Tom Goldsmith, will present Kate Kelly with the Fairly Free Thinker Award. Afterwards, buffet-style dinner will be served. Our Live Auction follows dinner with returning auctioneer, Senator Jim Dabakis. His enthusiasm and entertaining style will ensure you stay for this “don’t miss” portion of the evening. The Silent Auction will close at 8:30pm. Winning tickets for winners of the raffle baskets will be drawn throughout the evening, so make sure you purchase your raffle tickets early and often.

Parking: There is plenty of parking in the parking structure at Trolley Square. There are many parking spots designated solely for The Falls Event Center. There is also an elevator, and no stairs into the venue, so it is accessible for all.

Childcare: Free Childcare will be provided at the church from 5:30pm until 10pm. The Auction begins at 6pm and ends by 9:30pm, so you should have ample time to stay for the entire auction.

About Kate Kelly: Kate Kelly is a zealous advocate and passionate activist. She has a JD from American University Washington College of Law, the only law school in the world founded by, and for, women. In 2013, Kate founded a group called Ordain Women to advocate for gender equality in the Mormon Church. She was convicted of apostasy by three male Mormon leaders and excommunicated in June 2014 for speaking out against the institutional oppression of women. In her legal career, she has had various opportunities including working as a law clerk at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights; an attorney at the RFK Center for Justice & Human Rights; Strategic Advocacy & Policy Counsel at the Planned Parenthood Associated of Utah, and many, many more. We are looking forward to hearing from, and meeting Kate at the auction.
