30 August 2020

Welcome to new week friends! This week, as we ease back in our Religious Education schedule, we're bringing back our Full Week Faith plans from the spring. The theme for the month of September is Renewal. Use this week's activities as a springboard for your family's conversations and connections this week. You can find a pdf print out of the plan by clicking HERE

Watch this week's Worship or RE-Imagining Chapel on our Youtube page! You can find it here:

Each Monday we're going to put two questions for your family to wrestle with this week!

  • When you first wake up in the morning, what do you look forward to the most?
  • How does newness feel in your body?

Grab some chalk! Using a plant identification app or local wildflower field guide, label the street or sidewalk in front of as many “weeds” as you can find, helping passers-by realize that they aren’t really “just weeds.” If you like, you join the ranks of rebel botanists worldwide who have shared their washable graffiti on social media.

Watch this video of the book, As Fast As Words Could Fly, as a family: How do you as a family support each other's social justice work? Is there any project you want to start as a family?

Take a minute to do a quick 5-minute journal exercise as a family using our senses. Set a time limit and ask each family member to draw their answer for the following questions, then talk together about what you drew.

What do you see? Hear? Smell? Feel? Taste?

This month let's renew our taste buds by trying something new and reducing our carbon footprint with a new vegetarian meal each week! Here's this week's recipe:

While we're physically distant, we still want to encourage the social connection of other like-minded adults. Have a friend zoom call, physically distant drinks, etc. Each week we'll pose a new question, based on this month's theme, for you and your people to talk about.

  • What parts of parenting renew your spirit, and which parts deplete you? How does it feel to name these aspects out loud?
