As you become more familiar with First Unitarian Church in Salt Lake City, you may truly welcome the progressive atmosphere that permeates worship, religious education, and our intense commitment to social justice and environmental sustainability. A simple snapshot of our wide diversity of beliefs might be narrowly focused to read: Deeds Not Creeds. We believe that how we act in the world carries far more relevance than memorizing doctrine.
Your involvement in this vibrant religious community will be welcomed and appreciated. We hope that you will consider just some of the opportunities we provide to get involved in our community. We are a group that enjoys celebration, working towards justice, and take seriously the religious education of our children to foster their own sense of worth and freedom of thought.
Unitarian Universalists are generally not known for making fashion statements, not even on Sunday mornings. Casual clothing is the usual attire. Whatever you choose to wear, we look forward to meeting you!
First Unitarian Church welcomes families with children into the life of the church! Click here for more information on our Religious Education program and feel free to check in with Amanda Esko, Director of Religious Education at dre@slcuu.org if you have questions.
There is free street parking on 600 South and some spots on 1300 East on Sunday mornings. We also have leased the parking lot of Friendship Manor with easy access to the church. Friendship Manor is the high-rise retirement community situated on the corner of 1300 East and 500 South. Enter the parking lot from either of Friendship Manor's two driveways and make your way to the south of the lot and enter through the gate into the playground area.
UTA Buses/TRAX: There is a TRAX station north of the church at 500 South 1400 East, an easy, two block walk. The church is also on the UTA bus line. See www.rideuta.com for more information as routes and destinations times vary and change.
An induction loop is provided in the sanctuary/chapel area for the benefit of hearing aid users. To use, please switch your hearing aid to 'T'. Hearing assists which can be worn over hearing aids are also available in the chapel vestibule every Sunday for both services.
