June 26th Summer Forum "What’s Going On with the Utah's Inland Port ??!"

20 June 2022

Welcome to Summer Forum 2022

Please join us for Summer Forum 2022 guest speaker series presentation Sunday, June 26th at 10am.

What’s Going On with the Utah's Inland Port ??!

Come join the conversation with leaders from very different perspectives on this controversial subject . Four years since its founding, over $200 mil in taxpayer dollars spent, and no shovel in the ground. Nothing to show for this, "Utah's largest economic development project" in decades. The original design was deeply flawed . Promises of jobs, $$ for affordable housing, and a 'Green Port' silenced many.... until now.

No studies have been done, no data collected....because the Port promises to worsen our air, contaminate the Great Salt Lake, damage the health of thousands of Westside children, decimate 10 million migratory birds, and erode our precarious water supply.

Why proceed? Who benefits? Who Pays? What about it is a 'Done Deal' ?

Moderated by Robert Gehrke, SL Tribune Opinion columnist

  • David Scheer, Architect & Urban Planner; Assoc Prof at Univ of Utah, Architecture; Chair of Capitol Hill Comm Council, Coalition to Stop the Polluting Port
  • Liz Weight, Utah House of Representatives, former educato (Redistricted & now represents a large portion of the Port )
  • Victoria Petro-Eschler, Westside Nonprofit Executive, City Councilwoman representing District 1, and ex officio member of the Utah Inland Port Authority Board
