Come to our Intergenerational Holiday Party! Since both the kids RE and the adult RE studied world religions last year, this year we will be exploring the winter traditions of 6 world religions - Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, and Aboriginal/Earth Religions. Come experience activities, songs, cultural crafts (appropriate for kids and adults) and a delicious spread of traditional foods. Don’t miss this great event that celebrates the diversity of ages in our congregation and the diversity of ways to celebrate this festive time of year. Happy (Multicultural) Holidays! Saturday Dec. 12, 2-4 pm

Fall Highway Cleanup this Saturday! Please set aside a couple of hours this Saturday morning, October 3, to keep Utah beautiful by joining our group of volunteers to remove litter along a 4-mile stretch of State Road 65 extending from Mountain Dell towards East Canyon. Remember, you get to keep any treasures you find ($,$$$,$$$-?). Meet at THE church at 9:00 AM to carpool, or at 9:30 AM at the Parleys Canyon UDOT maintenance facility adjacent to the Mountain Dell golf course. The state requires that participants be eleven years of age or older……BUT, there is no upper limit. Bring gloves and a positive attitude. We should be finished by 11:30 AM. For any questions, or to sign up, please contact Frank Steffey at 801-277-2509. Anybody interested in taking over the leadership of this beneficial activity should also contact Frank Steffey.

Please join us on Sunday, June 14th at 11:30, following our 10 am service for our annual end-of-year picnic. We have reserved our usual spot - the Mt. Olympus Pavilion at Sugarhouse Park.

  • Bring Your Own Mug The Coffee Committee will be serving coffee at the church picnic. Please remember to bring a coffee cup with your eating utensils if you wish to drink coffee so that we can reduce the use of disposable cups. We will be awarding a prize for the most unusual/ugly coffee cup. To put it another way, bring your ugly mug to to picnic!
  • Please bring a salad or dessert to share with everyone, and if possible, bring your own nondisposable dishes and utensils so that we can limit the recycling and refuse that we generate.
  • Please label vegetarian, vegan, nut free, and gluten free options clearly to help those with particular food allergies, sensitivities, and preferences enjoy our community event. We will be providing beef burgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers, as well as drinks, condiments, and chips.
  • Cost is $5.00 per person, $3.00 for children payable at the park (checks made out to First Unitarian Church or exact change if paying in cash would be much appreciated). If you have lawn chairs, please bring them to help with congested seating in the pavilion.

Next Sunday, June 7th, we'll have one short service at 8:30 am at which time we'll head down to join in at the Pride Parade. Here's the announcement from our Social Justice committee:

Pride 2015 is almost here. The annual Pride Parade is Sunday, June 7, 2015 at 10am. As a congregation, we have an entry in the parade again this year. We are in the red staging area - 400 South & 400 East. We will be walking and singing dressed in our ‘Standing on the Side of Love’ t-shirts. The theme for this year’s Pride is “Pride is ____”. This year we have many things to celebrate, especially marriage equality and the passing of the anti-discrimination bill during the legislative session. Please come and celebrate with us as we march as Unitarians, proudly showing our support and love for the community. If you have any questions, please contact .
